This digital collection contains the correspondence of Edward T. Latta and other members of his family dating from 1860-1892. Latta served as an officer in the Union Army in the Indian Territories, engaged in land speculation, and worked in the cattle and hog industry and as a notary public. The majority of the letters were written by Latta to his wife Mellie and his sons. Additional letters were written to and from Latta by friends and other family members. Also included in the collection are IOUs, a land deed signed by James Buchanan, a tariffs pamphlet from the office of William B. McKinley, and envelopes and cards relating to various business ventures of Latta.
