This digital collection features artifacts, meeting minutes, images, publications, and audiovisual material, all of which provide insight into the history, membership, and activities of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the nation’s oldest Greek-letter African-American sorority, and its Wichita State chapters, Beta Omega, which existed from 1930 to 1935, and Beta Kappa Omega (BKΩ), which was established in 1938. BKΩ has been recognized for its community service and sponsorship of Fashionetta, an annual event during which senior-year African-American high school girls compete for college scholarships by engaging in various academic and civic functions.
