This digital collection presents a commentary by Macrobius, an early 5th-century Roman writer, on Cicero's Somnium Scipionis (Dream of Scipio). Macrobius's work is one of the most widely cited books of the Middle Ages. A popular guide to science, the book features Pythagorean number lore, cosmography and world geography. It also discusses Virgil and helps establish the reputation of Virgil in the Middle Ages as a rhetorician and poet of prophetic insight
