This 16th century edition of an early Church chronicle is attributed to Hegesippus, an early 5th century author who paraphrased and freely borrowed from The Jewish War and Jewish Antiquities by Josephus as well as sources by Roman writers. There is scholarly dispute as to the work's authorship and some have attributed it to Ambrose, bishop of Milan and an eminent theologian in the 4th century.

Title page, Hegesippus’ Hegesippi Historiographi inter Christianos Antiquissimi.
