The Ku Klux Klan Digital Collection documents the involvement of George C. McCarron, an Imperial Representative of the Klan, during the organization's peak years of 1923 and 1924. The collection consists of memos McCarron sent to Klan members in the Realms of Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska; the items deal with organizational doctrine, membership concerns, and other administrative affairs. With its adherents numbering an estimated 4 to 6 million during these years, the Klan targeted African Americans, Catholics, Jews, and immigrants in an effort to promote its social and political aims, as well provide support to males who were white, native-born, and Protestant.

KKK memo on battleships, Kansas City, Mo, September 27th, 1923.
